RESETTING THE INITIAL INK CHARGE FLAG

Because initial ink charging consumes a great deal of ink, you should only
reset the initial ink charge flag under the following conditions:

Clean the printhead
To avoid wasting ink, you generally select the
Head Cleaning option on the service program to
clean the printhead. If print quality remains poor,
perform an initial ink charging to clean the
printhead.
Follow these steps:
1. Connect the printer to the PC and turn on both the PC and the printer.
Note: Make sure you replace all four color ink cartridges with new
cartridges before beginning this procedure, or you may not be able to
perform an initial ink charging successfully.
2. At the DOS prompt, type the following (if you've inserted the service
program diskette in a drive other than A, substitute that letter):
A:\mode Ipt1: retry=p

service program diskette in a drive other than A, substitute that letter):
A: \spro5000.exe

IMPORTANT
The service program may hang at this point
for one of the following reasons:

The printer is not turned on.

You failed to make the entry in step 2.
If the program hangs, go back to step 1.
4. If the correct printer name displays, select Yes and press Enter. (If the
correct name does not display, press the Alt and E keys simultaneously
to enter input mode, then type the following:
Stylus Pro 5000.) The following screen appears.
