PRINTING MECHANISM

The Stylus Pro 5000 uses EPSON's original MACH printing method. This
printer has two color printheads and includes an automatic color-
calibration function.

IJ192-AD (left printhead)

CAUTION
The two printheads look the same. When
replacing both printheads, keep them
separate. It is possible to use the right
printhead as the left printhead, but the left
printhead cannot be used as the right
printhead. If they are swapped, print quality
will deteriorate.
Cleaning Operation
Each printhead prints multiple colors. Therefore, you can't clean just the
black or color printhead. When the printer receives a cleaning command
from the control panel or driver, it cleans both printheads using an equal
amount of ink.
Nozzle Component
The nozzle configuration is shown in Figure 2-1. The black nozzles are
included with the color nozzles. The left printhead prints dark colors
(Black, Cyan, and Magenta) and the right printhead prints light colors
(Light Cyan, Light Magenta, and Yellow).
Each printhead has: (64 nozzles/color × 3 colors/printhead) ×
2 printheads = Total 384 nozzles
