5.2.3 Adjusting the extension (Fig. 3)
Flex the knee joint all the way to the stop
Use the adjusting wrench to set the adjusting pin on the side labelled „Extension", according to
the chart.
Turning the key forward = low extension resistance= 0
Turning the key backward = highest extension resistance = 8
CAUTION
Errors during the adjustment procedure. If extension damping is set too high, the forward swing
of the the 3WR95 Knee Joint may be restricted. This can cause the patient to fall.
Only dampen extension to the point where full extension is always attained.
5.3  Final assembly
Use the 710D4 Torque Wrench to tighten the set screws. For the tightening torques, refer to
the instructions for use of the adapters you are using .
6 Use
6.1  Locking function
The locking function makes it possible to walk and stand in wet areas. To activate the locking function:
• The prosthesis leg must be extended fully while weight is applied to the forefoot (hyperextension).
• To lock the joint, move the locking lever in the direction indicated by the arrow (Fig. 4)
CAUTION
Risk of falling due to deactivated locking function. The behaviour of the prosthesis and the
swing phase changes in wet areas. For safety reasons, the amputee must activate the locking
function before entering wet areas. The locking function will not be activated if the prosthesis
leg is not fully extended when the locking lever is engaged.
• The knee joint is locked
INFORMATION
Check the position of the locking lever before using the locking function.
• Unlocking the knee joint
The knee joint can be unlocked when necessary (e.g. to sit down). The knee joint is locked.
• The prosthesis leg must be fully extended while weight is applied to the forefoot (hyperextension).
• To unlock the joint, move the locking lever in the direction indicated by the arrow (Fig. 5)
• The knee joint is unlocked
The knee joint remains unlocked until it is placed in a hyperextension position again and locked
using the locking lever.
CAUTION
Risk of falls due to improper operation. The amputee must have the necessary muscular and
cognitive abilities to control a freely moving knee joint without stance phase control. If he or she
is not able to do so (this usually applies to patients with mobility grades 1 and 2), then the knee
joint must always be locked in order to walk.
