CAUTION
Incorrect use of the knee joint. Any sort of excessive strain or overloading or incorrect handling
can lead to defects and resulting malfunction of the 3WR95 Knee Joint, including loss of function
due to structural failure. This can cause the patient to fall.
Instruct the patient in the proper handling of the 3WR95 Knee Joint and explain the following
patient information.
3.3  Safety instructions for patients / users
CAUTION
Risk of burns in case of heat exposure. The 3WR95 Knee Joint is not suitable for use in saunas
or for activities during which the prosthesis is exposed to high heat.
CAUTION
Mechanical overloading. External mechanical loads, such as impacts and vibration, can cause
defects and result in malfunction of the 3WR95 Knee Joint, including loss of function due to
structural failure. This can cause the patient to fall.
Do not subject the system components to mechanical vibration or impacts.
CAUTION
Risk of loss of function due to incorrect care. The 3WR95 Knee Joint must be cleaned with
clean fresh water following contact with saltwater, water containing chlorine/soap, or contact
with abrasive substances (e.g. sand).
It must also be dried carefully immediately after every use.
Contact with abrasive substances (e.g. sand) can lead to premature wear.
CAUTION
Changes to system components. Any changes or modifications to system components which
are made on the user's own initiative may result in defects and malfunction of the 3WR95 Knee
Joint, including loss of function due to structural failure. This can cause the patient to fall.
• Any changes or modifications to the 3WR95 may result in a loss of functionality.
• Opening and repairing the 3WR95 Knee Joint and/or the repair of damaged components may
only be performed by a certified Ottobock Service provider.
CAUTION
Environment and usage conditions. The environment and usage conditions may compromise
the functionality of the 3WR95 Knee Joint. To reduce the risk for the patient, the 3WR95 Knee
Joint must not be used after noticeable functional changes occur. Noticeable functional changes
may include poor response, incomplete extension, diminished swing phase control or stance
phase stability, abnormal noises, etc.
Please contact your practitioner to have the prosthesis inspected if you discover damage or
noticeable functional changes.
