IMPORTANT
Consult the safety and cleanliness advice and oper-
ation recommendations before carrying out any
repair (see 38C, Anti-lock braking system, ABS:
Precautions for the repair, page 38C-3) .
The removal and refitting of the ABS computer requires
the removal of the entire hydraulic unit.
Do not remove the brake computer from a vehicle fitted
with ESP.
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (MR 415, 02A, Lifting equip-
ment).
a Disconnect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Re-
fitting) (MR 415, 80A, Battery).
a Fit a pedal press on the brake pedal to limit the out-
flow of brake fluid.
a Remove the hydraulic unit (see 38C, Anti-lock
braking system, Hydraulic brake unit: Removal -
Refitting, page 38C-4) .
II - REMOVAL OPERATION FOR PART

Note:
When the ABS computer is removed, the hydrau-
lic pump (1) must remain pressed against the
pressure modulation unit (2) .
a Remove:
- the ABS computer bolts (3) ,
- the ABS computer (4) .
