IMPORTANT
To avoid any risk of triggering when working on or
near a pyrotechnic component (airbags or preten-
sioners), lock the airbag computer using the diag-
nostic tool.
When this function is activated, all the trigger lines
are inhibited and the airbag warning light on the
instrument panel lights up continuously (ignition
on).
IMPORTANT
Never handle the pyrotechnic systems (pretension-
ers or airbags) near to a source of heat or naked
flame - they may be triggered.
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
a Lock the airbag computer by applying the before re-
pair procedure using the Diagnostic tool :
- connect the Diagnostic tool,
- select the "Airbag computer",
- go to repair mode,
- display the "Before/after repair procedure" of the
selected computer,
- carry out the operations described in the "Before
repair procedure" section.
a Switch off the ignition.
a Remove:
- the front side doors (see Front side door: Remov-
al - Refitting) (47A, Side opening elements),
- the rear side doors (see Rear side door: Removal
- Refitting) (47A, Side opening elements).
a Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).
a Disconnect the battery (see 80A, Battery, Battery:
Removal - Refitting, page 80A-4) .
a Remove:
- the battery (see 80A, Battery, Battery: Removal -
Refitting, page 80A-4) ,
- the Protection and Switching Unit (see 87G, En-
gine compartment connection unit, Protection
and Switching Unit: Removal - Refitting, page
87G-2) ,
