Setting up the instrument automatically

Using the Instrument Setup Wizard you can automatically setup the
instrument so that is it ready to be tuned for accurate mass data acquisition.
Caution:
running the Instrument Setup wizard in CI positive mode when
using metri as the tuning compound. If FC70 is used, then the
methane reagent gas can be left at the appropriate pressure.

Required material

The following reference compound solutions are recommended:
For EI - use heptacosa (218.9856 Da) or FC70 (268.9824 Da)
For CI positive - use metri (284.9949 Da) or FC70 (268.9824 Da)
For CI negative - use chloropentafluorobenzene and heptacosa
(413.9775 Da)
For FI and FD - use chloropentafluorobenzene (201.9609 Da)
To run the Instrument Setup Wizard:
1.
In the MassLynx window instrument shortcut menu, click
open the Tune window.

In the Tune window menu bar, click Ion Mode and then click the
required mode.
Note:
MassLynx saves tuning parameters separately for each ion mode.

Use a septum piercing-syringe to inject a suitable reference compound
solution which will produce peaks of a known mass.
