Detector maintenance

Conditioning the detector

The detector must be conditioned before use. You condition the detector by
gradually increasing an applied voltage over a period of time.
Caution:
vented. Failure to follow the detector conditioning procedure will
reduce lifetime of the detector and may destroy it.
To condition the MCP detector:
1. Ensure the analyzer and source are pumped down (evacuated). The
analyzer vacuum must be <3e-6 mbar for one hour before the
conditioning starts.
2. In the MassLynx Tune window Source tab, ensure that the Detector
Voltage is set to 0.
