Sonicate the lens plates in a suitable solvent to remove any remaining
grease.

Removing the collimating slits
The two collimating slits are 0.25 mm wide and can be removed from the outer
source when using FI or FD ion mode.
Note:
When the collimating slits are removed from the outer source there is a
noticeable improvement in sensitivity, but reduction in resolution.
To remove the collimating slits:
1.
Unscrew and remove the securing screws that secures the slit assembly
onto the slit mounting block.
2.
Lift up and remove the slit assembly from mounting block.

Rub each slit, with 1200-grade wet/dry paper to remove any visible ion
burn.
