Selecting the run time for the experiment

column.
To select the run time for the experiment:
1.
In the Experiment Setup window MS method, specify the run-time
value, in the Total Run Time text box.
2.

Result:
if two functions are defined, one from 0 to 5 minutes and the other 5 to
10 minutes, then a total run time of 10 minutes appears. If the run-time
value is changed to 20, then the first function runs from 0 to 10 minutes
and the second from 10 to 20 minutes.

Setting a solvent delay

Caution:
GC acquisition, to prevent damage to the source filament, always
specify a Solvent Delay.
The solvent delay protects the filament from high source pressure in the
source, which can cause the filament to burn out. After injecting onto the GC,
the low boiling solvent elutes first and solvent evaporating from the sample
causes high pressure in the source. Typically, this high pressure lasts up to
four minutes, depending on the oven temperature. The solvent delay turns off
the filament during this period of high pressure, which prevents the filament
from burning out.
To set a solvent delay for a function list:
In the MS Method editor Experiment Setup window, click Options > Solvent
Delay.
The run time, or duration, of the experiment should be long
