Configuration Guide - SPU
About This Chapter
To use the service processing unit (SPU) on the S9700, configure required functions on the
S9700 and SPU in advance, including the service type, Layer 2 or Layer 3 flow import, and
traffic mirroring.
1.1 Overview of SPU Pre-Configuration
This section describes how the SPU is connected to the S9700 switch with XGE interfaces.
1.2 Configuring a Service Type
When using an SPU, ensure that the service type of the SPU is the same as the type of the service
processed by the SPU. If the service type is not the required type, change the service type, and
then restart the SPU to make the change take effect.
1.3 Configuring Layer 2 Flow Import
To implement Layer 2 communication between the S9700 switch and an SPU, group interfaces
that need to communicate with into the same VLAN, and configure Layer 2 flow import on the
S9700 switch and SPU.
1.4 Configuring Layer 3 Flow Import
To implement Layer 2 communication between the SPU and the S9700 switch, assign IP
addresses on same network segment to virtual XGE interfaces between them, and configure
Layer 3 flow import.
