5.2 NetStream Features Supported by the SPU

This section describes the NetStream features supported by the SPU.
Packet Sampling Modes
SPU supports the following packet sampling modes:

Original Traffic, Aggregation Traffic, and Flexible Traffic
At present, the SPU supports the statistics about the original traffic, aggregation traffic, and
Flexible traffic.

Statistics Aggregation
The SPU supports the aggregation based on as, as-tos, protocol-port, protocol-port-tos, mpls-
label, source-prefix, source-prefix-tos, destination-prefix, destination-prefix-tos, prefix,
and prefix-tos.
Aging Types
The SPU supports the following aging types:

Issue 01 (2012-03-15)
Fixed-packets sampling: One packet is sampled after a specified number of packets are
sent. For example, if the packet interval is set to 100 and the fifth packet has been sampled,
the 105th, 205th, and 305th will be sampled.
Random-packets sampling: One packet is randomly sampled among a specified number
packets. For example, if the packet interval is set to 100, one packet is randomly sampled
among every 100 packets.
Fix-time sampling: One packet is sampled after a fixed time interval. For example, if the
time interval is set to 100 ms, one packet is sampled every 100 ms.
Random-time sampling: One packet is randomly sampled within a specified period. For
example, if the time interval is set to 100 ms, one packet is randomly sampled within every
100 ms.
Original traffic: collects statistics about all traffic on an interface. The version of the
exported packets of the original traffic is V5 or V9. By default, the version of exported
statistics packets is V5 and the version of exported IPv6 statistics packets is V9. To export
statistics about MPLS traffic, set the version to V9.
Aggregation traffic: classifies traffic according to specified rules, and collects statistics
about each type of traffic. The version of the exported packets of the aggregation traffic is
V8 or V9. By default, the version number of the exported packets of IPv4 aggregation
traffic is V8 and that of MPLS aggregation traffic is V9.
Flexible NetStream: provides a flexible way to collect NetStream statistics. You can collect
traffic statistics based on the protocol type, DSCP field, source IP address, destination IP
address, source port number, destination port number, or traffic label. The SPU sends the
traffic statistics on an interface to the NSC. The version of the exported packets of the
Flexible traffic is V9.
