Installing a RAID adapter flash power module

Use this information to install a RAID adapter flash power module.
When you install multiple RAID adapters that come with flash power modules, the flash power modules
must be installed remotely to prevent them from overheating. The flash power modules must be installed in
the battery/flash power module trays that are located on top of the USB/video assembly (in the front of the
server). To install a flash power module remotely in the server, complete the following steps:
Step 1.
Read the safety information and installation guidelines, see "Safety" on page v and "Installation
guidelines" on page 38.
Step 2.
Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords and external devices;
then, remove the top cover (see "Removing the server top cover" on page 40).
Step 3.
Remove the fan cage assembly (see "Removing the fan cage assembly" on page 252).
Step 4.
Remove the microprocessor and memory expansion tray (see "Removing the microprocessor and
memory expansion tray assembly" on page 292) or DIMM air baffle (see "Removing the DIMM air
baffle" on page 220), whichever one is installed.
Step 5.
Connect one end of the flash power module cable to the cache card.
Step 6.
Open the SAS cable guide cover.

Route the flash power module cable along the side of the chassis and through the SAS cable guide.
