Press the adapter firmly into the slot on the rear two hard-disk-drive kit.

Connect any required cables to the adapter.
Attention:
• When you route cables, do not block any connectors or the ventilated space around any of the
fans.
• Make sure that cables are not routed on top of components under the rear two hard-disk-drive
kit.
• Make sure that cables are not pinched by the server components.
Step 9.
Perform any configuration tasks that are required for the adapter.
Step 10. Replace the rear two hard-disk-drive kit in the server (see "Replacing the rear two hard-disk-drive
kit" on page 219).
Step 11. Reinstall the top cover (see "Replacing the top cover" on page 164).
Step 12. Slide the server into the rack.
Step 13. Reconnect the power cords and any cables that you removed.
Step 14. Turn on the peripheral devices and the server.

Removing a RAID adapter battery/flash power module

Use this information to remove a RAID adapter battery/flash power module.
If a RAID adapter battery / flash power module is installed near the fan cage and you need to replace it,
complete the following steps:
Step 1.
Read the safety information that begins on "Safety" on page v and "Installation guidelines" on page
305.
Step 2.
Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords.
Step 3.
Remove the top cover (see "Removing the top cover" on page 162).
Step 4.
Disconnect the battery/flash power module cable from the RAID adapter battery/flash power
module connector.
