9.5 Downloading Firmware
This section describes how to download firmware (system programs) via the SCSI interface to the flash
memory provided on the main board, to which the boot program has been downloaded.
1. Items required to download firmware
• CS2000.X file
• CS2000 scanner
• PC (Windows 95 or 98,Windows 2000/Xp and an operating environment that provides SCSI compatibility)
• OPS112 (Scanning Master 21+ Ver 4.00 or later)
• SCSI interface cable
2. Procedure
To update the firmware, follow steps (1) to (7).
To download firmware for a new main board, follow steps (8) and (9).
(1) Attach the main board to the CS2000 and use the SCSI cable to connect the CS2000 and PC.
(2) Set DIP switches 1, 2, and 3 to the ON positions and switch on power for the CS2000.
(3) Turn on power for your PC and start OPS112.
(4) When OPS112 starts, follow the steps given below to download the firmware.
1. Access the "Help" menu and select "About." At this time, a dialog box will appear.
2. Point to the icon in the window and click while pressing and holding the "Ctrl" key.
3. Click the "OK" button while pressing and holding the "Shift" key. This makes the status available for
adjustment.
4. Select "Adjust Scanner" from the "Tools" menu to display the Adjust Scanner window.
5. Select "Update Scanner/Firmware" to display the Download dialog box.
(5) Insert the floppy disk containing the firmware (filename: CS2000.X) into the floppy disk drive, click the
"View" button on the Download dialog box, select the floppy disk, and click the "OK" button.
(6) Click the "Start" button to begin downloading.
(7) After the download is complete, a message will appear. At this time, all the
panel control LEDs on the scanner should start flashing simultaneously.
After confirming the download, set all the DIP switches to "OFF," and then switch off power.
(8) When the download is complete, a message will appear. At this time, all panel control LEDs on the
scanner should start flashing at the same time.
After confirming this, turn off power and set DIP switches 1 and 3 to the OFF positions. Switch on power
again while pressing and holding the "STOP" key on the control panel.
Initialization is complete when the "POWER" LED lights up by itself, followed by the "ERROR" LED, and
then the "ERROR" LED will then go out.
(9) Next, set DIP switch 2 to the OFF position and switch on power once again for initialization to take effect.
