CODE 25 – DRIVER AIR BAG INITIATOR CIRCUIT SHORT TO POWER CIRCUIT (Page 1 of 2)
CAUTION:
D When measurements are requested in this chart use specified digital multimeter with correct terminal
adapter from special tool (Connector test adapter kit).
D When a check for proper connection is requested refer to "Intermittent and Poor Connections" in this
section.
D When an open in air bag wire harness, damaged wire harness, connector or terminal is found, replace
wire harness, connectors and terminals as an assembly.
DTC WILL SET WHEN:
The voltage measured at driver air bag initiator circuit is above a specified value for specified time.
NOTE:
Before executing items in this table, be sure to perform "Air Bag Diagnostic Check Flow Table".
STEP
1
1) With ignition switch OFF, disconnect contact
coil connector located near the base of the
steering column.
2) Check proper connection to contact coil at
terminals in "C" connector.
3) If OK then connect Special Tool (B) to contact
coil connector disconnected at step 1).
4) With ignition switch ON, is DTC 25 current?

1) With ignition switch OFF, disconnect Special
Tool (B) and SDM.
2) Measure voltage from "A7" terminal to body
ground.
3) With ignition switch ON, is voltage 1 V or less?
ACTION
: Shorting bar
: Air bag harness
1. From ignition switch
2. "AIR BAG" fuse in "AIR BAG" fuse box
3. SDM
4. Contact coil assembly
5. Driver air bag (inflator) module
YES
Go to step 2.
Substitute a known-
good SDM and
recheck.
NO
Go to step 3 on the
next page.
Repair short from "G" or
"G/R" wire circuit to
power circuit.
