TABLE D – SDM CANNOT COMMUNICATE THROUGH THE SERIAL DATA CIRCUIT

STEP

1) Check if communication is possible by
trying communication with other
controller (ECM (or PCM), ICM or ABS
controller).
2) Is it possible to communicate with other
controller?

1) With ignition switch OFF, disconnect
SDM and "Lamp, DLC and Monitor
Coupler Ground" ("E") connector.
2) Check proper connection at "W/B" wire
terminal for DLC in "E" connector.
3) If OK, then check resistance between
"W/B" wire terminal in "E" connector and
"A4" terminal of SDM connector.
4) Is resistance 1 f or less?

NOTE:
Upon completion of inspection and repair work, perform following items.
1) Reconnect all air bag system components, ensure all components are properly mounted.
2) Repeat "Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Flow Table", referring to p.10B-11 to confirm that the trouble
has been corrected.

Go to step 3.
Substitute a known-good
SDM and recheck.

all controllers or short to
ground or power circuit
which has occurred some-
where in serial data circuit
("W/B" wire circuit).
Repair high resistance or
open in "W/B" wire circuit
(in air bag harness).
