How to fit the pulse encoder
Fit connecting pin to the centre on the non-drive end of the motor shaft.
Screw in the connecting pin with an application of screw locking compound. The pin must not
cause any "wobble" when the shaft is rotating.
The connecting pin must not show signs of any burr before attaching the pulse encoder as
otherwise the pin will not fit into the hollow shaft on the encoder.
Undo the pointed screws and fit the pulse encoder onto the pin as shown in the assembly
diagram.
Caution:
Do not use force! Fit the pulse encoder without using force as otherwise the supports on
the encoder may be damaged.
The encoder must not be connected to the motor housing. Do not put any screws into the fixing
holes!
Note:
The motor shaft may move in an axial direction as the motor accelerates and
decelerates; this will cause the shaft to push itself out of the motor bearing. For this
reason, there must be no fixed connection between the encoder and the motor housing.
Position the pulse encoder and fix to the motor shaft using the two pointed screws. The
encoder should now be "floating" without exerting any pressure on the connecting pin.
Check that the pulse encoder is attached in such a way that the connecting cable is suspended
and can move freely.
Feed the connecting cable through a clip as far down as possible in order to prevent left/right
movements. The cable should be able to move up and down.
As the pulse encoder can move freely, rocking movements along the axial and radial axes can
be compensated. These rocking movements have no effect on the actual speed measuring
process.
