Use this information to remove the thermal solution fan kit
To remove the thermal solution fan kit on the 4U server model with non-hot-swap
power supplies, complete the following steps. For 5U server models with hot-swap
power supplies, please see the next sub-section.
1. Read the safety information in "Safety" on page vii and "Installation
2. Turn off the server and all attached devices; then, disconnect all power cords
3. Carefully turn the server on its side so that it is lying flat, with the cover facing

a. Disconnect the fan cable from the system board (see "System-board internal

b. While you support the system fan with one hand, pull the rubber grommet
away from the chassis to make it thinner; then, pull the fan toward the front
of the server to remove the rubber grommet through the hole on the
chassis. Repeat this step till all the remaining rubber grommets are
removed.
c. Lift the system fan up and out of the chassis.
