Blocked regions
Note
Blocked regions are only observed when they are used in semi-automatic mode (SAM) and, if
activated, in manual mode (MAN).
A blocked region is an extension of the obstacle coordinates which enables the crane geometry
and a safety clearance to be taken into account. A separate blocked region for SAM and MAN
exists for each obstacle coordinate. The reason for the different blocked regions is that safety
clearances vary in the different operating modes (P33/P72 and P29/P78). It may be necessary
to set a larger or smaller safety clearance in MAN than in SAM, for example. If P33=P29 and
P72=P78 is set, only one blocked region exists for each obstacle coordinate and this is valid for
both operating modes.
Fixed blocked regions
Fixed blocked regions are entered manually using the SIMOCRANE CeCOMM program and
cannot be changed via the PLC.
Variable blocked regions
Variable blocked regions are created dynamically and used principally on the waterside for
transfer of the container stack. Depending on the type of the transfer, variable blocked regions
are divided into external variable blocked regions and internally learned variable blocked
regions.
External variable blocked regions is the name given to blocked regions that are transferred from
the PLC to the sway control system. This is necessary when the obstacle management is to be
implemented in a higher-level control system. Blocked regions should be transferred to the
sway control system prior to travel in semi-automatic mode (SAM).
External variable blocked regions can also be used for other purposes, such as the blocking of
all heights below the trucks.
Internally learned variable blocked regions are calculated by:
● Acquiring the spreader positions in all operating modes
● Acquiring the bay scanner values in all operating modes.
Container stack
The container stack is the two-dimensional location description of all containers in a row on the
ship.
Height profile
If the container stack is learned internally, the actual position of the trolley and hoist is recorded
as a height profile irrespective of the current operating mode. The laser values of the
bay scanner can also be taken into account. The learned height profile extends from the start
to the end of the waterside. Internally learned variable obstacles are continuously generated
from the height profile.
