Connecting the SRX5400 Services Gateway to a Network for Out-of-Band
Management
To connect the services gateway Routing Engine to a network for out-of-band management, connect an
Ethernet cable with RJ-45 connectors to the ETHERNET port on the Routing Engine. One Ethernet cable
is provided with the services gateway. To connect to the ETHERNET port on the Routing Engine:
1. Plug one end of the Ethernet cable
(Figure 83 on page 195
shows the connector) into the ETHERNET
port on the Routing Engine.
Figure 84 on page 195
shows the port.
2. Plug the other end of the cable into the network device.

Connecting an SRX5400 Services Gateway to an External Alarm-Reporting
Device
To connect the services gateway to external alarm-reporting devices, attach wires to the MAJOR ALARM
and MINOR ALARM relay contacts on the craft interface. (See
Figure 85 on page
196.) A system condition
that triggers the major or minor alarm LED on the craft interface also activates the corresponding alarm
relay contact.
