SAN512B-6 Installation, Service, and User Guide
additional iPDUs along the sides of the rack in the upper cutouts to provide power
for any additional directors you choose to install. These iPDUs must be installed in
pairs.
The input ac power is not switched, so each outlet has a separate circuit breaker to
protect against excessive current. When the power cords are plugged into the iPDU
outlets, resistance should be less than 0.1 ohm between input ground and either
switch or rack frames.
For instructions on how to remove and install the iPDUs:
v See "Installing additional iPDUs" for an initial installation of the iPDUs.
v See "Side-mounted iPDUs" on page 223 for instructions for removing and
replacing the side-mounted iPDUs.
Installing additional iPDUs
The rear of the rack contains cutouts for additional iPDUs. The cutouts for the
iPDUs are located on the upper right side and the upper left side of the rack (see
1 in Figure 71 on page 223 and 2 in Figure 73 on page 232).
Complete the following steps to install the two additional iPDUs into the rack:
1. Install the four nut clips (PN 178837) in the top right iPDU cutout.
2. Insert the iPDU (PN 00FW787) into the top right cutout.
3. Insert the four screws (PN 17P8838) into the iPDU and tighten.
4. Install the four nut clips (PN 178837) in the top left iPDU cutout.
5. Insert the iPDU (PN 00FW787 ) into the top left cutout.
6. Insert the four screws (PN 17P8838) into the iPDU and tighten.
Attention: The iPDUs for directors (PN 00FW787) have a maximum total current
capacity of 24 amps. Ensure that attached devices do not exceed this capacity.
Figure 70 on page 221 shows how the power cords should be looped inside the
rack. Be sure that the cords do not loop below the lower rack brace.
