This topic describes how to install and service the SAN rack. A number of different
machine type 8961 and 2499 b-type models of directors can be installed in this
SAN rack, including products that are no longer marketed by IBM. These products
include the following:
v 8961 SAN director models
- F04 (SAN256B-6 )
- F08 (SAN512B-6)
v 2499 SAN director models
- 416 (SAN384B-2)
- 816 (SAN786B-2 )
For specific installation and service information for these IBM Storage Networking
SAN products, refer to their respective installation and service guides.
Throughout this document, the IBM TotalStorage IBM SAN rack is referred to as
the rack. The IBM Storage Networking SAN512B-6, 256B-6, and IBM System
Networking SAN768B-2 and 384B-2 are referred to as directors. The term devices
refers generically to directors or other products.
This section contains the procedures to install a IBM SAN rack (hereafter referred
to as the rack) and prepare it for use.
The installation steps are as follows:
