SNMP View-based Access Control Module (VACM) commands
VACM
Control subsystem of an SNMP engine has the responsibility for checking whether a specific type of access (read,
write, notify) to a particular object (MIB instance) is allowed.
Elements of the View-based Access Control Module:
• Groups – defines the access rights to objects afforded to all security names which belong to that group. A group is
identified by a group name. The combination of a security model (SNMPv1/v2c or USM) and a security name
maps to at most one group.
• Security levels – identifies the level of security that will be assumed when checking for access rights to an object.
Different access rights for members of a group can be defined for different levels of security, namely
noAuthNoPriv, authNoPriv, and authPriv (see

• Security models – defines the security model under which access is requested (USM, SNMPv1 or SNMPv2c).
