Connecting to the Server Using Terminal Service
For Windows Server 2003
Share the floppy disk drive and the CD-ROM drive of the client machine before connecting to the
server.
1.
Click on [Start], point [All Programs] and then click on [Remote Desktop Connection].
The [Remote Desktop Connection] dialog box appears.
2.
Specify the computer (server) to connect in the [Remote Desktop Connection] dialog box
and click on [Connect].
For Windows 2000
1.
Double-click on the server icon on the client connection manager.
The Terminal Service Client window appears to indicate the Server Logon dialog box.
Double-click on the title bar of the window for full screen display.
IMPORTANT: To start the connection, wait about four minutes after
powering on the CPU blade.
2.
Enter the qualification information set appropriate for logging on to the server.
In general, log on to the server as a user with a certain management authority (local,
domain, or enterprise).
If the proper qualification information is used, the server desktop appears.
Note that this is largely different from the use of a remote control product. The keyboard, mouse,
and screen of the server are not manipulated. Instead, log on to the computer to create a new session.
However, the session is not displayed locally by the computer but displayed remotely by using the
terminal service. However, the logon user has the full access authority to computer programs as he
or she works on a local console.
Disconnecting from the Terminal Service Client (Windows Server
2003/Windows 2000)
There is important difference between the disconnection of a session and the log-off of a session.
If the terminal service client window is only closed, the session remains active in the server. At
re-connection, the terminal service connects to the session again. All the programs that remained
executed in the session are available as before.
To terminate the session, the [Start] menu on the remote computer should be used to log off the
session. Note that the logoff terminates the remote session. The user is not logged off on the local
console of the computer.
