Replacing Hard Disk Drives

Depending on the operating system and/or server management software to be used, hard disk drives
must be replaced as described in the procedure to manage the hard disk drives appropriately.
If Windows Server 2003 or Windows 2000 is used as the OS and NEC ESMPRO Manager and NEC
ESMPRO Agent are used as the server management software, replace the hard disk drives as
described in the following procedure. To do these jobs, you should log on to the system as a user
having the administrator authority.
The working procedure varies depending on the existence of the system partition and mirror volume.
Replace the hard disk drives in the procedure meeting the used system environment based on the
figure on the next page.
However, to replace a hard disk drive in a RAID drive (RAID 1) with redundancy by HostRAID,
the hot-swap rebuild feature can be used. Refer to the online documentation stored in NEC
EXPRESSBUILDER.
