5-8 Installing the Operating System
Upgrade installation of Windows Server 2003 from Windows 2000
The procedure in order to upgrade your Windows 2000 is described below.
Before starting the upgrade, read the following cautions carefully.
The minimum required partition size for the upgraded installation of Windows Server
2003 is the "partition size of Windows 2000 installed in the system" + "free space of
approximately 1.25 - 2GB or larger". If the partition does not have enough free space,
reserve enough space by deleting the unnecessary files
Be sure to uninstall "PROSet" if it is installed before performing the upgraded installation
of Windows Server 2003 from Windows 2000. If some network adapters are set as
teaming, delete the team before uninstalling "PROSet".
Click [Cancel] if the following popup message appears:
<Insert disk>
Insert a CD-ROM labeled "Intel PRO Adapter CD-ROM or floppy disk" into the CD-ROM
drive and click [OK]. If you copy the file from another place such as a floppy
disk, click [OK].
If the on-board network adapter of the system is 1000Base and the value of the Jumbo
frame specified in the Advanced Settings for PROSet differs from the one for the network
adapter after the system has been updated, change the value of the network adapter by
specifying the value of the Jumbo Frame.
You can not execute the upgraded installation with the Terminal Server Client. Be sure to
connect the keyboard, the mouse, and the USB CD-R/RW to the CPU Blade and then,
perform the upgrade.
If the keyboard, the mouse, and the USB CD-R/RW are connected to the CPU Blade and
you are going to execute the upgrade, be sure to install the USB CD-R/RW driver first.
Follow these steps to upgrade your Windows 2000 to Windows Server 2003.
1.
Turn on the system and start Windows 2000.
2.
Log on to the system using a username of Administrator authority.
3.
Insert the Windows Server 2003 CD-ROM or the back-up CD-ROM into the CD-ROM
drive which is connected to the CPU Blade.
The [Select the operation executed] screen appears.
