1.1 Connection Preparation
Network devices and cables
Network devices, such as LAN switches, must be prepared to connect an ETERNUS DX Disk
storage system to the LAN. When the LAN for remote support is separate from the LAN for
operation management, routers and LAN cables must be prepared to connect to the other
network.
Connection example without a dedicated remote support port
The MNT ports are used for the network connection of the remote support. The RMT ports are
not used.

For the ETERNUS DX Disk storage system, one IP address for the MNT port is required.
An IP address is required for a PC terminal that is used for maintenance operations
performed by a maintenance engineer.

Two enhanced Cat-5 twisted-pair type LAN cables are required to connect the ETERNUS
DX Disk storage system to the LAN for operation management.
