Copying a Release File to the Switch

The next step in upgrading software is to copy the new release file to the switch. From
priv-exec mode, use the
releases directory:
copy ftp://[username:password@]ftp-site/file releases dest-file
where
username:password@ (optional) is an FTP username and password (the
default is the username/password set by the
"Setting a Default FTP User" on page
ftp-site identifies the FTP server with an IP address or FQDN (for example,
"172.16.88.3" or "ftp.myftpsite.com"),
file is the chosen file name (lead with two slashes (ftp-site//file) if the file
path is absolute),
releases is the directory, and
dest-file is the local-release-file name.
For example, the following command sequence copies a release file from
ftp.acopia.com, then uses
