Searching the End of the Syslog

The and commands search from the beginning of the syslog file, starting
show grep
with the oldest messages and moving toward the most-recent logs. To skip ahead to
the most-recent logs, use the
grep pattern logs [filename] [ignore ignore-pattern] tail number-lines
where
pattern, logs, filename, and ignore ignore-pattern are described above,
tail is required, and
number-lines (1-4096) is the number of lines to show.
For example, the following
lines in the active syslog:
option at the end of the
tail
command shows only the 10 most-recent matching
