CLI Maintenance Guide
After you add new subshare (and ACL) at a filer, use the
find them and copy them to all other filers behind the volume. This copies the share
definition, ACL, and any underlying subdirectories:
sync shares namespace volume vol-path share share-name
where:
namespace (1-30 characters) is the namespace to sync. Use the
command for a list of configured namespaces (see
namespace
Namespaces" on page 7-3
vol-path (1-1024 characters) chooses a specific managed volume in the
namespace. Use forward slashes (/) in the path, even for CIFS volumes.
share-name (1-64 characters) selects a share in the managed volume (for
example, 'rx'). This is the namespace-share name, not the name of the share
at the filer. The sync utility searches for new subshares at the filer.
Like the sync operations described earlier, this generates a report as it runs. The report
name appears after you issue the command. After a successful sync operation, you
can use
cifs export-subshares
(see
"Exporting all Filer Subshares at Once" on page 11-18
Storage-Management
Guide).
For example, this command sequence adds a new subshare and ACL to a CIFS filer
named fs4, and then passes it through the CIFS service at "ac1.medarch.org:"
From the CIFS Filer:
These commands access a DOS prompt to add a directory and share it as "Y2006:"
From the ARX CLI:
The
command finds the new subshare and duplicates it on all other shares
sync shares
behind the "medarcv~/rcrds" volume. It also duplicates the underlying directory,
"\2006." The sync report indicates success. Then the
shares the "Y2006" share out of the "ac1.medarch.org" service:
