Using the USB Device

Inserting the USB Device
1. Locate the LCM/RCM
If necessary, see Component Location on page 7.
2. Insert the USB memory key into the LCM/RCM
See Figure 3-2, shown to the right.
Downloading from the USB Device
Continuing Backups when Downloading
Do not run backups while executing updates from downloaded
firmware. Updated components automatically reboot when updates
are complete, which could interrupt a backup operation.
It is safe to run backups while downloading firmware packages from the USB memory
key. However, because users often update firmware immediately after downloading it,
Spectra Logic recommends waiting until backups have completed.
Note:
The only data you should download from the USB memory key is
firmware packages. See the Spectra T120 Library User Guide for
instructions on executing package updates.
Saving to the USB Memory Key
Continuing Backups when Saving
It is safe to run backups while saving to the USB memory key. It is also safe to run
backups while running traces (trace results are the data most often saved to USB).
For instructions on running traces, see the Spectra T120 Library User Guide. Trace
results saved to USB can be reviewed from any device that can read from USB.
Note:
Plug the USB memory key in to the LCM/RCM before running
traces to allow time for memory key recognition.
