Chapter 2 – Using a USB Storage Device
Continuing Library Operations While Using a USB Device
It is safe to continue library operations, such as data backup, while saving library
configurations and other information to a USB storage device.
It is safe to continue library operations, such as data backup, while exporting or
importing a BlueScale encryption key.
It is safe to continue library operations, such as data backup, while running traces
(trace results are the data most often saved to a USB storage device).
It is safe to continue library operations, such as data backup, while copying a
firmware package to the library from the USB storage device.
It is not safe to continue library operations, such as data backup, while the library
is performing a firmware update using a firmware package previously copied to the
library.
Caution:
Do not run backups while the library is performing updates
from downloaded firmware. Updated components automatically
reboot when updates are complete, which could interrupt a
backup operation.
Connecting a USB Storage Device to the LCM
Note:
Plug the USB storage device into the LCM before beginning a
procedure that reads or writes data to allow time for device
recognition.
1. Locate the LCM (see Figure 1-4 on page 19).
2. Plug the USB storage device into the USB port on the LCM (Figure 2-1).
