Adding Lubricant to Header Swivel Gearbox and Hitch Swivel Gearbox
Lubricant is required for proper gearbox operation. Adding oil is required when scheduled maintenance or a repair is
performed.
DANGER
To prevent bodily injury or death from the unexpected startup of the machine, always stop the engine and remove the
key from the ignition before leaving the operator's seat.
NOTE:
This procedure is the same for both header swivel and hitch swivel gearboxes, and must be done on both upper and lower
gearboxes.
1. Shut down the engine, and remove the key from the ignition.
2. Clean the area around check plug (A) and breather/filler
plug (B).
3. Remove check plug (A) and breather/filler plug (B).
4. Ensure the lubricant level is visible or begins to leak
through check port (A). Add gear lubricant to the gearbox
through port (B) as required. Refer to this manual s inside
back cover for the lubricant type and quantity.
5. Reinstall check plug (A) and breather/filler plug (B), and
tighten them.
4.5.14 Wheels and Tires
Wheel and tire maintenance is crucial for the transport and operation of the machine.
Checking Wheel Bolts
Check the wheel bolts on field and optional transport wheels to ensure the required torque.
DANGER
To avoid bodily injury or death from unexpected startup of the machine, always stop the engine and remove the key
from the ignition before leaving the operator's seat for any reason.
IMPORTANT:
Check and tighten the field wheel bolts and the transport system wheel bolts (if they are installed) after the first hour of
operation and every 100 hours thereafter.
1. Shut down the engine, and remove the key from the ignition.
