The lamp glass is magnesium fluoride. Avoid touching it because

its storage location on the source adaptor housing.

APPI/APCI source—cleaning the lamp window
The transmission of the high-energy photons responsible for APPI relies on
the cleanliness of the magnesium fluoride lamp window. Clean the window to
keep the surface clear of contamination, and thus avoid reduced sensitivity.
Required materials
Chemical-resistant, powder-free gloves
Lint-free cloth
Methanol or Isopropanol
Warning:

APPI lamp is extinguished before carrying out this procedure.
To clean the lamp window:
1.
Prepare the instrument for working on the source (see

Pull the source enclosure release (located at the bottom, right-hand side)
outwards, and swing open the enclosure.
3.
Use methanol or isopropyl alcohol, applied to the lint-free cloth, to
carefully clean the lamp window.
4.
Close the source enclosure.
