2.3.6.4.8 Precautions for handling and use
Spills and leaks:
Further leakage must be prevented. Smaller spills must be bonded with dry sand, dirt and vermiculite. The use
of flammable materials is not permitted. If possible, neutralize acids with sodium bicarbonate, chalk, etc. Acid-
resistant clothing, footwear, gloves and face protection must be worn. The disposal of unneutralized acid in the
sewage system is prohibited!
Waste disposal:
Used batteries and rechargeable batteries must be disposed of in an environmentally friendly recycling process.
Neutralized mud must be stored in closed containers and stored / disposed of in accordance with applicable reg-
ulations. After neutralization and inspection, larger spills diluted with water must be disposed of in accordance with
applicable regulations.
Handling and storage:
• Store in cool, dry and well-ventilated rooms with impermeable surfaces and appropriate containment con-
ditions in case of leakage
• Protect from adverse weather conditions and separated from incompatible materials during storage and
transport
• A sufficient supply of water must be located nearby.
• Damage to containers in which batteries and rechargeable batteries are stored and transported must be
prevented.
• Keep away from fire, sparks and heat.
