2.1.3

Tuning and calibration information

You must tune and, if necessary, calibrate the mass spectrometer before using it. You can perform
these tasks via the IntelliStart software.
For further instruction, see the mass spectrometer's online Help topic "Instrument Setup".
2.1.4

Running the mass spectrometer at different flow rates

The ACQUITY UPLC IVD and ACQUITY UPLC I-Class IVD systems run at high flow rates. To
optimize desolvation, and thus sensitivity, run the ACQUITY Xevo TQD IVD system at appropriate
gas-flows and desolvation temperatures. When you specify a flow rate, IntelliStart software
specifies these parameter settings.
Flow rate versus temperature and gas flow:
Flow rate (mL/min) Source temp (°C)
0.000 to 0.020
0.021 to 0.100
0.101 to 0.500
>0.500

For additional information, see
Notice:
To avoid damaging the mass spectrometer by accidently spilling solvent on it, do
not store large-volume solvent reservoirs atop it.
2.2.1

Installing the reservoir bottles

Use standard reservoir bottles (15 mL) for instrument setup and calibration. Use the Low-volume
Adaptor Kit (sold separately) to infuse smaller volumes. The low-volume vials have a volume of 1.5
mL.
