Product ion mode
Product, or daughter, ion mode is the most commonly used MS/MS operating mode. You can
specify an ion of interest for fragmentation in the collision cell, thus yielding structural information.

Typical applications
Product ion mode is typically used for the following applications:

Method development for MRM quantitative analyses:

Identifying product ions for use in MRM transitions.
–
Optimizing CID tuning conditions to maximize the yield of a specific product ion to be
used in MRM analysis.

Structural elucidation (for example, peptide sequencing)
