Operating the CiPress User Interface
Printing of IPDS marks is controlled by the IPDS host. IPDS marks are only printed
on pinfed stock. The CiPress ignores eXtensible Open Architecture (XOA) Control
Edge Marks commands from the IPDS host when pinless stock is in use. The CiPress
prints IPDS marks in response to the IPDS data stream XOA Control Edge Marks
(CEM) command. IPDS marks appear as one, two, or three narrow bars printed
perpendicular to the media perforation, entirely within the left carrier strip.
• Imposition Marks
Imposition marks, such as crop marks, fold marks, and perf marks, are not specified
or managed at the touch screen. Imposition marks can be specified using the Neptune
imposition application, or by another primary upstream imposition or job creation
application. Any imposition marks must be included in the image frames of the job
to be printed, and the are treated by the printer the same as any other page content.

Mark Positioning

Marks set at the touch screen are offset relative to:
• The logical Top of Form in the process direction
• The rear paper edge at the primaary / upstream CiPress
The print engine automatically translates these positions for use in a secondary /
downstream CiPress . All positions shown on the touch screen are relative to inboard /
outboard paper edges at the primary / upstream CiPress .

Paper definitions are defined using two sub-tabs:

• Allows you to set the Width, Weight, and Form Length.
• Allows you to specify Pinfed, Register to Oversize Pin Holes,
Perforated, or Pre-Printed Mark paper.
Note
The Register to Oversize Pin Holes selection is available only if you
select Pinfed for the paper type. The Form Length for all papers
with Register to Oversize Pin Holes must be a multiple of 0.5 inches
(12.7 mm).
