2.2.2 Printing Mechanism

The printer uses an on-demand ink jet system to print, as used by other EPSON ink jet printers. This printer,
however, has a new printhead, which is designed to produce high quality output at a higher speed. The
printing mechanism has 2 parts: ink cartridge and printhead.

2.2.2.1 Printhead Structure

This printer has a black printhead and color printhead. The structures of the printheads are basically the
same except for the nozzle configuration. The black printhead has 128 nozzles (32 nozzles for each of 4
rows) The color printhead, with 3 heads for Magenta, Cyan, and Yellow, has 64 nozzles (32 nozzles for each
of 2 rows) for each color.
