Maintenance

Print Head Nozzle Check

Print a nozzle check pattern to check for clogged
nozzles if you have not used the printer for an
extended period or before printing an important job.
Visually inspect the printed check pattern and Head
Cleaning if you notice faint or missing areas.
Nozzle checks can be performing from a computer or
using printer's control panel.

From the Printer

A
Make sure that the roll paper or a cut sheet of
A4 size or larger is loaded in the printer.

Choose a paper type that matches the paper in
the printer.

Press
-Print Head Nozzle Check, in this
order.

Confirm that the paper source displayed on
screen and the paper source set in step 1 are the
same, and then press Start.
Press Start to start printing a check pattern.

Review the printed check pattern while
referring to the following section.
Example of clean nozzles
If none of the pattern is missing, the print head
nozzles are not clogged. Press
nozzle clogging check.
Example of clogged nozzles
If any segments are missing in the nozzle check
pattern, press
to perform head cleaning.

Head Cleaning

Use this if you notice faint or missing areas in the
prints. Cleans the surface of the print head to improve
the print quality.
Head Cleaning can be performing from a computer or
using printer's control panel.

Press Start to Head Cleaning.
Cleaning starts. Cleaning takes about 5 to 6
minutes.
Follow the on-screen instructions to print a
check pattern, and inspect the results to
determine if the problem has been resolved.
Make sure that the roll paper or a cut sheet of
A4 size or larger is loaded in the printer.
Choose a paper type that matches the paper in
the printer.

Click Print Head Nozzle Check from the
Utility tab in the printer driver's Properties (or
Printing preferences) screen.
Click Print.
The nozzle check pattern is printed.
Check the nozzle check pattern.
If there is no problem: click Finish.
If there is a problem: click Clean.
After printing a nozzle check pattern, make
sure that the nozzle check pattern printing is
complete before printing your data or cleaning
the print head.
