Prepare a Site Plan

Connectrix v6.02 Planning Guide
For each cabinet, design a site plan that provides efficient work flow,
operator convenience and safety, and adequate service clearances.
(Refer to Operating Environment on page F-3.)
Consider these factors:
Locations of walls, doors, windows, partitions, furniture, and
other equipment. Do not place the cabinet in a location that will
block air flow to the cabinet components.
Available Ethernet LAN connections and cabling for remote user
workstation and/or SNMP management station access to the
Connectrix cabinet(s).
Ensure that the location of the cabinet(s) will accommodate the
necessary connections to the customer data network. Verify the
maximum distance allowed by the Ethernet cable you are using.
Proximity of Connectrix components to connected devices.
Length and location of required power and fiber-optic cables, as
well as telephone lines to the Connectrix service processor for
call-home or remote dial-in support. EMC recommends an
additional telephone line, to enhance Connectrix serviceability.
Power requirements, as described under Power Requirements on
page F-2. Provide one of the following for each cabinet:
• Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for connection to both
AC power cables.
• Two separate, properly wired, earth-grounded AC outlets.
Plan for a 110-VAC connection for the modem.
It is advisable that power connections be protected by a UPS system.
Weight and dimensions of the cabinet and its components. (Refer
to Physical Characteristics on page F-2.)
Service, operator, and access clearances. (Refer to Operating
Environment on page F-3.)
Temperature and humidity requirements. (Refer to Operating
Environment on page F-3.)
Security necessary to protect the installation's physical integrity
while maintaining accessibility to the cabinet.
