Upgrading to a Single Service Processor Environment
C
Connectrix v6.02 Planning Guide
C-12
7. Connect the EC-1200 Ethernet hubs together using patch cables:
a. Connect one end of an RJ-45 Ethernet patch cable to port 24 of
the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Ethernet hub/cabinet that is to connect to
the main/central cabinet. Using a pencil or other pointed
instrument, set the medium-dependent interface (MDI) on
these 2nd, 3rd, or 4th hubs to MDI (in).
b. Connect the other end of the patch cable to any open port on
the Ethernet hub in the main/central hub/cabinet where the
controlling service processor resides.
c. Repeat steps a and b for each connected Ethernet hub.
d. Wait approximately five minutes for the Ethernet link to be
established, then inspect the Product View at the Connectrix
Manager server. Ensure all switch icons appear with a green
circle as the background, indicating the switches are defined
and communicating with the EMC Connectrix Manager
application. If a problem is indicated, contact EMC Customer
Support.
After this process is complete, each product icon on the Server
service processor Product View should have a green circle status
symbol behind it.
From here, the steps to complete service processor consolidation
differ depending on the initial service processor configuration:
• Server service processor with one Ethernet adapter card (as
shown in Figure C-1 on page C-3) — go to One Ethernet Card,
No Public Network Connection on page C-13.
• Server service processor with two Ethernet cards; public
network not used (as shown in Figure C-2 on page C-4) — go
to Two Ethernet Cards, No Public Network Connection on
page C-13.
• Server service processor with two Ethernet cards; public
network used (as shown in Figure C-3 on page C-5) — go to
Two Ethernet Cards, Public Network Connection on page C-13.
