devices. Storage-level access control (EMC Volume Logix, for
example) provides control at the storage and LUN (logical unit
number) levels and does not require configuration at the server(s).
Contact EMC for details concerning server-level and storage-level access
controls that would be appropriate for your network.

passwords for up to 32 users; this does not mean that they should
configure the system for 32 users. The number of users able to access
the Connectrix system (locally or remotely, and including users who
only have view only rights) should always be kept at a minimum. A
current list of all users, identifying all user rights assigned to each,
should be regularly updated.
Remote user access to the Connectrix system can be disabled or
restricted to specific IP addresses. Consider both of these options (as
appropriate) when implementing the Connectrix configuration.
As a guide for planning tasks, complete the planning checklists
provided in Appendix D. The checklists detail planning activities and
provide space for the planned completion date for each activity.
References are provided for each activity to applicable sections of this
document.
The customer project manager should examine the checklist and
determine the personnel to use as resources for completing listed
tasks:
Ethernet management, to obtain IP address and DNS host names
for the switches and LAN cabling.
Facilities planning, to outline the floor plan and to arrange for any
electrical wiring, receptacles, and telephone lines.
Installation planning, to determine fiber-optic and Ethernet
cabling and routing requirements, and to plan connectivity
between the switch and attached peripherals.
