EMC PowerPath is used in the servers to provide both load balancing
and multifabric availability services. Longwave optics modules
provide a longwave laser to drive the single-mode fiber between the
data centers.
Figure 4-9 shows a 256-port CBF built as a 256-port high-availability
data center-to-data center solution. Any one of these switches could
be an ED-1032, ED-64M, ED-140M, DS-16M, DS-16M2, DS-32M, or
DS-32M2. Due to the high value and high cost of the fiber
right-of-way, data center-to-data center applications are best
designed with ED-64Ms and/or ED-140Ms, due to their superior
availability characteristics.
