simultaneously use the Fibre Channel director port. Finally, choose
that number or the recommended maximum of 12:1, whichever is
smaller. If you do not have an estimate of the workload, it is
suggested that you not exceed a 4:1 fan-out.
The total simultaneous I/O rate of all combined HBAs on one Fibre
Channel director port should not exceed the maximums shown in
Figure 4-6.

I/O Rates

Figure 4-6
These rates are maximums for cache reads in the Symmetrix models
shown. For cache writes, use 70% of the figures. For Symmetrix
models 3330/5330, 3430/5430, or 3700/5700, reduce the numbers
shown for models 3630/5630, 3830/5830, and 3930/5930 by 20%.
Also be aware that the greater the utilization of the resource is, the
higher the response time.
Figure 4-7 shows the effect of utilization on response time for Fibre
Channel director port read hits. Utilization is scaled both as a
percentage and as a response time factor. The response time factor
normalizes the low utilization value to 1.0.
