3. Ensure that a unique IP address is configured for the Silicom
Ethernet CardBus adapter in each service processor:
a. Configure IP addresses through the Network Properties
dialog box in Windows NT accessed through this path from
the desktop:
Start, Settings, Control Panel, Network, Protocols,
TCP/IP Protocol (double-click)
b. Select the network adapter that is configured to be on the same
network as the switches, then click Specify an IP address.
On some laptop PCs, the network adapter is the Silicom Ethernet
CardBus adapter (not the Silicom FastEthernet CardBus adapter).
Future versions of the service processor may have two Silicom
FastEthernet CardBus adapters, or even a different network adapter.
CAUTION
!
Make sure you are changing the network IP address on the
correct network adapter.
c. Enter an IP address as follows, referring to IP Address
Assignment on page C-7:
Server service processor:
First Client service processor:
Second Client service processor: 10.3.1.1
Third Client service processor: 10.4.1.1
Note that the the second data field (the 1, 2, 3, or 4 in the above
example) is the cabinet number, which has no significance
other than its unique identity for each cabinet. However,
assigning the number 1 to the cabinet containing the Server
service processor makes it easy to remember which cabinet is
the master.
d. Click OK on the Microsoft TCP/IP Properties dialog box.
e. Click OK on the Network dialog box. When prompted to
restart the computer, click Yes. (The service processor then
reboots.)
f. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each Connectrix service processor in
the multiswitch fabric.
