Connectrix v6.02 Planning Guide
Each installation has a unique configuration determined by the
characteristics of the connected devices and the installation's
performance objectives. The following factors determine the network
configuration and must be taken into account when planning the
network:
High-availability requirements
Nondisruptive growth and service requirements
Connectivity and scalability requirements
Projected quantity and growth rates of data transfer volumes
Distance requirements
Zoning requirements
Multiswitch fabric requirements
Proper planning of a configuration requires several steps; some
involve understanding and gathering information, and others
involve recording much of that information.
The remainder of this chapter describes some of the preliminary steps
you should take in planning your configuration.
