Consolidating Service Processors

Common Steps for
All Configurations
To consolidate multiple Connectrix service processors into a single
service processor environment, follow the steps below.
The following steps are the same for all of the configurations shown
in Figure C-1 through Figure C-3:
1. Designate one service processor as the Server, and the rest of the
service processors as Clients.
Follow steps 2 and 3 for the Server service processor, then repeat
the steps for each Client service processor.
2. Ensure that each service processor has a unique computer name:
a. Configure computer names through the Network Properties
dialog box in Windows NT, accessed through this path from
the desktop:
Start, Settings, Control Panel, Network, Identification
b. Type a unique entry into the Computer Name field; for
example:
Server service processor:
First Client service processor:
Second Client service processor: ConnectrixCL2
Third Client service processor: ConnectrixCL3
If including numbers in the names of the client service
processors, the numbering is not important. However,
identification might be easier if you follow the same order as
the IP addresses that will be assigned. (Refer to step 3, and to
IP Address Assignment on page C-7.)
The procedures described in this appendix use the names and
numbers shown in the examples, so you will find it easier to follow
the steps if you use those names and numbers.
c. Click OK on the Network dialog box. When prompted to
restart the computer, click No. (You will have to restart it at a
later step.)
