The Auto Frequency Scan (AFS) feature reduces registration time by limiting the
channel search to a list of channels specified by the operator. This simplifies
provisioning and operation of the subscriber. AFS scanning begins automatically
following a reboot, de-registration, or the link throughput rate drops below an operator-
set threshold. An adjustable threshold timer keeps the subscriber locked-on-channel
during periods of transient interference or fading.
The subscriber AFS scanning begins automatically following a reboot, de-registration, or

timer (Threshold Timer Enable) may be used to keep the subscriber locked on channel
during periods of transient interference or fading.
Add
Enter a new scanning range in the Local Frequency Ranges table. Enter the begin and
end frequency limits and click Add to create the table entry. To specify a single channel,
enter the same center frequency in the Begin Frequency and End Frequency fields.
Begin Frequency (MHz): Center frequency of lowest channel to scan.
End Frequency (MHz): Center frequency of highest channel to scan.
Add: Click to add this range in the Local Frequency Range table. Invalid ranges are
rejected with an error message.
IMPORTANT: Changes to scanning in Update 10:
1. Enter the center frequency for each channel (earlier releases use channel edges).
2. When Begin and End frequencies are not identical, scanning is performed using:
step size = current channel size
